1. The easiest way to check mistakes is with the articles der, die, das.
One of my corporate students comes to mind — I saw a little “cheat sheet” stuck to the bottom of their monitor on a Post-it note. Great idea! :)
2. Double-check whether the adjective ending is correct.
I know, this wasn’t your favorite grammar topic either, but many of my students can already correct themselves when they say the structure out loud and realize it doesn’t sound right.
3. Did you capitalize every noun?
Okay, check.
4. Did you choose the right preposition for the verb?
If you’re unsure, look up the list your teacher gave you — you’ll definitely find it there.
5. At the beginning of your language learning, you learned how important the verb’s position is in the sentence.
I can hear my students repeating my own sentence: “I know, I emphasized the verb…”
6. …or, yaaa!, KATI word order…”
You know what I mean, right?
7. Is the past tense correct?
Including the auxiliary verb? Good.
See? German is that simple ;-)
